Inside the resource
Everything you need to know before adding it to your server.
A gunplay overhaul - per-weapon recoil and sway, durability and jamming, injury and drug effects, headshot and damage tuning, combat stamina, carry limits - with a clean on-screen weapon readout, for QBCore, Qbox and ESX.
What's new in 2.0.1
- Every single tap kicks now, zoomed or not (most tapped shots used to get no recoil); full auto keeps the same rhythm as before.
- Zoomed recoil climbs about the same as unzoomed, so zooming in no longer softens the kick.
Config.Recoil.zoomsets it:kick(default),block(no scroll-wheel zoom on normal guns while aiming) oroff, with a multiplier for zoomed kicks. - Recoil works straight after a resource restart with a gun already in hand.
/gunplay_recoiltestfor admins logs the next 10 kicks to F8, so you can see the recoil your settings give.
What's new in 2.0.0
- Free update for 1.0.0 owners on the same Cfx.re asset: download it again from your Cfx.re account. The upgrade steps are in the included CHANGELOG.
- Recoil stays when zoomed: the scroll-wheel zoom no longer removes the kick. It is the same at every zoom step; first person is unchanged.
- A simple ammo counter by default: a bullets icon with the clip over the reserve, no panel. The full weapon panel is one config line away (
readoutStyle = 'horizon'). Both step aside while no-bs-hud or no-bs-hud-v3 runs. - Players move and size the readout with
/ammohud: drag it, resize with the mouse wheel, saved per player. You set the default spot, size and size range. - No more 9999 on the stun gun: weapons with no real ammo (stun guns, extinguisher, jerry cans, gadgets) show no ammo numbers.
- Ready for any server: the shipped config profiles GTA's own weapons and uses the script's own drug items (supplied in
install/items.lua); add your add-on guns with the example at the top of the file. - Security fixes for 1.0.0 - updating is strongly recommended. Drug use, overdoses, weapon condition, repairs, gun oil and the Discord reports are now decided on the server.
Handling that rewards aiming
Every weapon gets its own recoil and sway, and the way a player is doing changes how the gun behaves.
- Camera recoil per weapon, the same at every scroll-wheel zoom step; aim sway per weapon, off while zoomed in or scoped
- Aim-down-sights required to shoot, with cover fire blockable
- First-person-only shooting in vehicles with driver restrictions
- External multiplier exports so a gym or fitness script can improve a player's handling
Weapons that wear
- Condition lost per shot, per weapon, kept and checked by the server; an immune list for tool weapons
- Broken weapons cannot fire until repaired: admin command, optional repair items and a server export
- Weapons with a jam chance can jam; press R to clear it (or an optional skill check), and gun oil halves the chance for a while
- Global firearm damage scale, per-weapon modifiers (shipped for GTA's own weapons; add your add-on guns), headshot tiers with a global bonus, and a melee damage table
- Melee blocked while swimming; a warning while
qbx_recoilsis still installed, to avoid double recoil
Injury, drugs and stamina
- Recoil, sway, accuracy and movement penalties below a health threshold, with a critical state
- Morphine and oxy with durations and cooldowns; weed strains, cocaine and meth as consumables with their own items, plus switched-off example entries for a separate drug resource. The server removes the item and decides every effect; cooldowns survive a reconnect
- Overdose debuffs on rapid use, then a lock-out
- Combat stamina drains with combat actions and slows attacks and jumps when low (melee damage scaling is optional and off in the shipped config), with a fitness callback
- GTA's own health regeneration can be switched off (off in the shipped config)
On-screen readout and carry limits
- A simple ammo counter by default (bullets icon, clip over reserve, colour in the config), or a panel with weapon name, ammo type, clip / reserve, carried total, a condition strip and BROKEN / JAMMED / OILED chips
- Players move and size the readout with
/ammohud, saved per player; the default spot, size and size range are in the config - Effect chips with timers for active drugs, drug cooldowns, overdose, injury and gun oil; notifications through no-bs-hud-v3, ox_lib, the framework, this overlay, or none
- When no-bs-hud or no-bs-hud-v3 is running the readout and chips move into the HUD and this overlay stays empty; the page only takes the mouse while a player is moving the readout
- Server-side ox_inventory hooks cap how many of a listed item a player can carry, buy or craft, and keep it out of bags; the table is in
config.luaand exported
Requirements
ox_lib and one of qbx_core, qb-core or es_extended (auto-detected). ox_inventory is recommended for the drug items, gun oil and carry limits. Remove qbx_recoils (it would double the recoil). Optional: no-bs-hud / no-bs-hud-v3, no-bs-gym. ox_inventory item definitions for the drugs and gun oil are supplied (install/items.lua); rename them to match your own items. Optional Discord webhook for headshot kills, overdoses and admin repairs.
What you can edit
config.lua (every system, the weapon table, the drug table and the carry limits), locales/*.lua (the messages, in UK English), server/secrets.lua (webhook URL), the three framework bridge files, client/recoil.lua (readable because of its third-party credit), install/items.lua and the whole html/ overlay.
£20 one-time purchase, delivered to the account linked at checkout through asset escrow. Core Lua is protected. Configuration, translations, integration bridges and supplied examples remain editable. Browser interface files such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript remain readable and are not encrypted.
